Your First Visit

What to expect at your first office visit

We are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our office. As a courtesy to our patients there is no fee for this visit.

This one-hour visit will answer your questions including:

  • Is there a condition that orthodontics can address?
  • Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred?
  • What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?
  • How long will treatment take?
  • How much will it cost?
  • What are my payment options?

We want you to be actively involved in your orthodontic treatment. With your first exam, we will talk about your goals and discuss the treatment options for achieving them. Based on what we decide is the best path, we will work together to develop an individual treatment plan. At no time will you be left out of this process. We want you to be an active participant and make educated decisions about what is right for you and your situation. We would like you to always feel comfortable discussing any concerns with us that arise during the treatment process. We will immediately address those concerns and develop solutions.

A typical first appointment lasts one hour and consists of a series of photographs, a comprehensive examination, and a thorough discussion of treatment options. Please fill out your forms in advance to help the process be as efficient as possible!

Your initial visit will help us determine:

1. Your Exam
We will take diagnostic records which includes a digital scan, photos and x-rays, as well as perform a thorough examination in order to answer these questions. It is very important to us that our patients leave the office with a clear understanding of their specific needs and have all of their questions answered.

2. Meet Your Doctor
Dr. Dumore will review your xrays and recommend a customized orthodontic plan specifically tailored to your needs. We always schedule adequate time to answer questions. However, we will gladly arrange a follow-up appointment should you require additional information.

3. Your Financial Options
Your Treatment Coordinator will discuss your financial options with you and prepare a custom plan that works within your budget. If you have orthodontic insurance, please bring your insurance card. By providing this information at the first visit, we will be able to estimate how much your insurance will contribute.

4. Same Day Starts
If treatment is recommended and you wish to save an additional trip back to the office, we will be happy to get you started with the first step of the process.
